Club Driver Edge

The broadband goes down. The bar does not.

Club Driver Edge is a small appliance in the clubhouse that keeps trading, printing and member lookup running when the connection to the outside world fails — then reconciles every transaction the moment it comes back.

AvailableAvailable as an optional add-on for clubs with unreliable connectivity.

During an outage

Service continues, in the same software

Staff do not switch to a paper pad or a separate offline app. The screens they already know keep working, with an honest status banner.

  • Bar and pro-shop tills keep serving
  • Member lookup and tabs keep working from the local cache
  • Kitchen tickets and receipt printers keep printing
  • Transactions queue in order, with their original timestamps
  • Staff see a clear offline indicator rather than a spinner

What Edge does not pretend to do

Card authorisation still needs the acquirer, so online card payments are the one thing an outage genuinely interrupts. Edge is explicit about this: staff are told immediately which tender types are unavailable, rather than discovering it at the end of a queue.

When the line returns

Reconciliation, not reconstruction

The point of local resilience is what happens afterwards. Edge replays the day in order and proves it.

  1. Outage detected
  2. Local trading
  3. Queue
  4. Line returns
  5. Ordered replay
  6. Reconciled
  • Queued transactions replay to the cloud in sequence
  • Retries are idempotent, so nothing is charged twice
  • Conflicts are surfaced to a manager rather than silently resolved
  • The day's reconciliation shows what was taken offline and when it synchronised

Managed, not abandoned

Appliances the club can actually maintain

Edge units are managed from the club's own admin area, with the same update discipline as the terminal agent.

  • Signed release bundles with SHA-256 verification before install
  • Version floors, so a club cannot be left on an unsupported build
  • Watchdog restart and crash recovery on the appliance
  • Real-time appliance health monitoring and connectivity status
  • Backups of local state and certificate management
Club Driver point of sale interface that continues through supported offline states
  1. 1Transactions retain their original order and time
  2. 2Recovery retries are designed to avoid duplicate processing
Staff remain in the familiar till interface while a clear status identifies local operation and later synchronisation.
